Rural Facade #6 by Sandy McLea

Each mixed media photographic work in South African fine art photographer Sandy McLea’s Rural Façade series is composed of photographs of graffiti from urban areas layered atop a juxtaposed abandoned rural scene. McLea uses paper tole technique to layer repeated selections of an image to create a three-dimensional effect. This technique physically lifts the graffiti off a building’s facade, calling attention to its displacement and reframing the murals to reveal them as meaningful works of art. Parts of the rural scene are also raised slightly to complement the effect and bring each work together as a compositional whole.

Currently showing in the Dallas, Texas and available for immediate order.
