These hand carved ceremonial tribal masks are made by the Ashanti people in Ghana. The two masks are carved as a female and male pair, symbolizing a married couple, and bear Adinkra symbols on the bottom of each piece. The bird carved atop the larger piece (the male) is called “Sankofa” is is regarded as a symbol of peace and prosperity.
These pieces are ideal gifts for a couple-to-be and are large enough to nicely frame a doorway in a home. Please contact us to see more large carved wooden pieces kept in the kanju vault.
