Fauna Lidded Lozi Bowl

The complex ecology and agriculture of East Caprivi, home of the Lozi people, produced some of these remarkable bowls which were for food storage. They are hand made, one of a kind, carved out of one piece of wood and fashioned into the shape of different animals that are common in South Africa. The Lozi have a tradition of giving bowls as gifts to non-Lozi peoples as gifts.
