Men strip raffia fibers and weave cloth on single-heddle looms, then soften the rough cloth, called mbal, by pounding it in a mortar. Kuba women decorate the base cloth with appliqués, following their curiosity in pattern making and improvise designs within parameters. Pillow features a concealed zipper closure and interior lining.
