Mossi Ceramic Pot

This Mossi pot is handmade of terracotta. An iconic design, these types of pots were originally used as sacred water and beer vessels both in temples and homes. One-of-a-kind and a rare find from Burkina Faso, it is made by the Lobi tribe. Mossi pots are some of the most treasured pieces in African ceramics and often embody this classic form; a holly spherical body decorated with evenly-spaced points and a detachable top.
