The Meraki Occasional Chair is manufactured in Cape Town from organic and completely recyclable light cork and American soft maple. The initial shape and concept derived from research based on the Senufo people of West Africa. The carving is a focal point, which emphasis the importance of the handmade aesthetic, as opposed to only machine manufacturing. Cork is used as an alternative to upholstery, where the emphasis is based on sustainability in combination with an unconventional natural material. Cork is very durable and resistant and therefore extremely suitable for home environments.
