“After the Harvest”, oil on a canvas, is a landscape work by painter Celimpilo Dlamini (b. 1983) who was born in Simunye, Swaziland and now lives and works in Mbabane, Swaziland. The artist is known for his beautifully languid brushstrokes and traditional approach to landscape composition. Celimpilo Dlamini believes art, like life, “proceeds along a path of progressive revelation of the unknown.” He has participated in exhibitions at the Yebo Art Gallery in Lobamba, Swaziland and is considered a young painter to watch in southern Africa.
The word kanju translates to “creativity born of struggle” or “making more with less.” Nothing could be truer of the exquisite pieces and talented artisans with whom kanju works across the African continent.
