Bold, graphic, and richly textured, each Classic Kuba Pillow is one of a kind and an expression of the preserved artistic heritage of the Kuba people of Congo. kanju’s Classic Kuba Pillow features a striking winding labyrinth design.

Colors are produced with indigo, natural oils, and vegetable dye. Kuba cloth has traditionally been made for ceremonial use and illuminates the art of the Kuba people of Congo. Men strip raffia fibers and weave cloth on single-heddle looms, then soften the rough cloth, called mbal, by pounding it in a mortar. Kuba women decorate the base cloth with appliqués, following their curiosity in pattern making and improvise designs within parameters.
