“Texas Spirit” was created exclusively for kanju by South African artist Andile Dyalvane of Imiso Ceramics in Cape Town. Everything is bigger in Texas— and this enormous drum-shaped vessel is no exception. The natural earthware clay body exterior features surface designs inspired by the spirit of Dallas, TX; boots and spurs, a bucking horse at the rodeo, the Lonestar and longhorn, the shape of the state itself. With a metallic bronze interior and textured exterior that hints at a narrative, this piece is a dynamic statement piece for the true Texas lover.
