Kuba Textile - Deco Fringe

The Kuba people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo hand-weave strips of raffia cloth (woven fibers from the raffia-palm leaves) to drape around themselves at celebrations. Each square takes days to complete. The raffia is dyed with natural substances (like plants) and handwoven, and the designs have various meanings. We have turned these coarsely textured cloths into modern-day decor. Each Kuba Cloth Panel varies in size, pattern, and color.
