These decorative metallic shields have been historically used as defensive weapons in wartime and displayed as a decorative symbol of status and wealth by the Tikar tribe in Cameroon. Hand-carved from a solid piece of Baobab wood, a prehistoric tree of the African Savannah, this large shield is sculpted into a textural radial design with a reflective gold or copper aluminum overlay. These shields are one-of-a-kind pieces that are masterfully crafted by skilled artisans who spend days carving and fashioning each piece, making each one truly unique.
