“Peacock” by Zimbabwean artist Dominic Benhura is carved from a single piece of soapstone in Zimbabwe. A one-of-a-kind statement piece ideal for standalone installation in a large space, this particular piece exemplifies a new style developed by Benhura, arguably the most foremost Shona sculptor in the world.
Zimbabwe means “House of Stone” and the Shona people of Zimbabwe have been carving stone for nearly a thousand years. Each of kanju’s Shona sculptures is curated from Zimbabwe and we work with the finest carvers. The themes these sculptures portray represent esteemed values in the Shona culture of family, love, life, and nature.
