These vintage washboards were varved from a solid slice of wood and were used for washing in a river. This ancient method of rubbing the clothes against the board had a similar effect to beating the clothes on rocks, but it was less abrasive and allowed for hand made clothes to remain usable for much longer stretches of time.
Great to hang on the wall, or display on a stand, these vintage washboards are minimal and easy to accessorize in any space. The organic color and texture of the wood creates a natural warmth that is easy to incorporate into any décor style.
