The project eventually blossomed into a thriving enterprise that employs dozens of talented weavers in their Cape Town studio. The name 'Amelia Jackson' evokes a profound sense of familial reverence and the history of textile-making. It pays homage to the founders’ grandparents and great grandparents, who were textile workers, and to the vision of reinvigorating a local industry that for decades was lost to overseas production, Guided by the cherished legacy of their forbearer, the company is tireless in seeking ways to incorporate upcycled textiles into their designs, utilizing fabric that otherwise might end up in landfills. Where raw sourced material is used, only locally produced, eco-grown fibers are incorporated.
