STORY

Elevated Felt by Chic Fusion Studio

“One of the greatest joys is that I am able to fulfill my love of teaching every day. By training young women in our home in highly skilled work, we have created a familial space and an emotionally supportive and entrepreneurial environment that encourages creativity.” – Razaan, Founder and Designer

The most organic décor you’ll ever experience, Chic Fusion studio takes one of the most ancient, most important fibers to mankind, and gives it a modern expression and quiet, organic elegance that is softly breathtaking.

A passion for working with natural fibers and fabrics led Razaan Jakoet to explore various felt making techniques. After falling in love with the soothing process herself, first as a hobby, and learning how different types of wool and the addition of accent fibers such as organic silk created stunning textural layers, she set out to build her own studio. She has now trained dozens of female artisans in the craft of elegant felting, and her and her close, talented team experiment constantly with organic dyeing methods and various fibers. Constantly inspired by the South African landscape and its diverse cultures, her modern and minimal design aesthetic belies the warm, textural complexity of the finished pieces.

A belief in taking care of the earth has led Razaan to teach and practice carbon free methods with her artisans in her home studio. They use recycled, filtered rain and household water for the making process, and leftover felt fibers are used to make small creations sold at local markets. They rely on the natural sun for their drying methods, and ensure their finished products are completely biodegradable.
